Confusing Tie
"In a recent World Cup match in India, the scores were level and England had lost fewer wickets than India. Why didn't England win? In our local cricket we always take account of wickets lost " MCC Draw
Unless there are any playing conditions that say otherwise or an agreement reached by the captains before the match, if play ends prematurely, due to bad weather perhaps, or ends with one side still batting but not having made enough runs to exceed the total opposition score, the match will end as a Draw.
MCC Tie
A tie is the result that occurs when both sides have completed their innings and their final total scores are equal.
The side batting first may be All out or declared their innings or the number of overs allowed may have expired. The side batting second must have lost all their wickets for a Tie result to apply.
ICC Tie used in One-Day Internationals
If the scores are equal, the result shall be a Tie and no account shall be taken of the number of wickets that have fallen.
