Drive, off drive, on drive, punch

An attacking batting stroke in which the ball is hit with a full downward swing and follow-through of the bat.

For an off drive the ball is hit between cover and mid-off and for an on drive the ball is hit between mid-wicket and mid-on

Whether the shot is played off the front or back foot usually depends on where the ball has pitched.
