Fielding circle

The fielding circle is a playing condition, not part of the Laws, which is imposed in certain types of limited-overs matches, stipulating that a certain number of fielders must be within a set distance from the pitch at specified periods of the match. The 'circle', by the way, is almost never circular but usually oblong in shape!
