John Harvey Cup - rules

Matches to be 50 overs per side starting at 11:30 am with a 7:20 pm finish.

Lunch - 40 minutes - will be taken after the first two hours of play - 1:30 pm on a normal match day.

The first innings should be completed after 3 hours 20 minutes of playing time - 3:30 pm. on a normal day. 1 point deduction for every over started after 3:30 pm

The second innings should therefore start at 3:40 pm. Tea -20 minutes - to be taken after 20 completed overs.

Again 3 hours 20 minutes for the completion of the second innings and a 7:20 pm finish. 1 point deduction per over started after 7:20 pm.

A minimum of four players must stay within the 30 yard circle throughout each innings.

A maximum of 10 overs per bowler.

Wides will be call for ANY ball bowled down the leg side - i.e. passing leg stump.

Any balls bowled outside the off side marker - 17 inches from the return crease - will also be called wide.

Bonus points will be awarded for 3 - 5 - 7 - 9 wickets and 150 - 175 - 200 - 225 runs.

Ten points plus bonus points will be awarded for a win.

Five points plus bonus points will be awarded to each side for a tie.

Three points plus bonus points will be awarded for a match abandoned after the first innings of the match.

Eight points per side plus bonus points to be awarded for a match abandoned before the first innings has been completed.

Rain affected matches:
  • Each side will lose an over per 8 minutes lost - runs to be deducted at the average per over of the first innings.
  • No completed match should last less than 35 overs per side.
  • In rain effected matches the number of overs available should be divided by five (bowlers). i.e. 35 over match = maximum 7 overs per bowler.

  • 2 hours 20 minutes per innings. With tea - 20 minutes - between innings

  • 35 over matches should start no later than 2:30 pm and finish no later than 7:30 pm
All competition matches to be played on the main cricket square.

At the close of play the Master i/c Cricket from both schools please agree the scorecard and points before sending it to the competition co-ordinator
