eLearning Course - Unit 1

The International Institute of Cricket Umpires and Scorers (IICUS) has developed a comprehensive umpire training course using the Internet. In Unit 1, the 42 Laws of Cricket are explained with text, still images, diagrams and video clips and there are questions interspersed throughout the web pages. The learner progresses through the Laws in 4 modules.

After the successful completion of all 3 Units, it is possible to gain a BTEC Certificate accredited by Edexcel, which is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning in the UK and internationally.

The learner will also have Internet access to the MCC Laws of Cricket, the MCC Open Learning Manual and an IICUS commentary prepared by our team of Law experts.

When the learner has studied each Law, there is an assessment to be completed and e-mailed to one of our experienced Tutors who will mark the assessment and return the results to the learner with appropriate comments.

At the completion of the assessments, the learner will have gained a sound understanding of the Laws of the game and can be confident in umpiring cricket matches at a recreational level. The successful learners will receive a prestigious IICUS Certificate in Cricket Umpiring and proceed to Unit 2 - Match Management
